Young Firefighters Association
Are you between 13 and 17?
Do you what to make new friends and join the fun?

The Young Firefighters Association (YFA) is a uniformed youth organization which is run by volunteers. In Hereford & Worcester there are two YFA groups one based in Dritwich and in Redditch.  Young Firefighters have the opportunity to take part in various activities within YFA.

When Young Firefighters first join they are put through a 13 - week basic training course. After this they take part in a chance to show the skills that they have learnt to friends, family, local dignitaries and senior Fire Officers.

At their passing out parade the Young Firefighters who are aged between 13 - 17, are awarded their passing out certificate. From then onwards they are trained in greater detail in preparation for more complex drills.

Fire Safety is promoted at various fetes, with rehearsed drills often performed at public events. On special occasions the YFA have gone to laser quest, bowling, swimming, archery, trekking, mountain biking an annual camp and help fundraising discos!

Hereford & Worcester Fire Rescue Service ensures that all YFA instructors are Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) checked to the enhanced level of disclosure. This is to ensure that all people who work with young people are safe and effective in supporting and promoting their welfare at all times.
